Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA achieved a new world record for the State of Qatar by entering the Guinness World Records for Largest Drinking Water Storage Tank, part of the major strategic water tanks project.

On its official website and in the ratified certificate received by KAHRAMAA, the Guinness World Records indicated that the volume of the water tank, the largest of its kind in the world, is more than 436,000 cubic meters (exceeding 96 million Imperial Gallons, 115 million US Gallons), which qualified KAHRAMAA to set a new world record that reflects the efficiency of its strategy to enhance water security in Qatar.

KAHRAMAA announced that the entry of the major strategic water tanks project into the Guinness World Records is another successful milestone to be added to the corporation’s journey with the support of the wise leadership.

This world record reflects the strategic importance of the project as the backbone of water security in the State of Qatar, as it meets the country's aspirations to increase and secure strategic water reserves for various regions in the state, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. KAHRAMAA is also working on bolstering the level of efficiency of its networks to provide the best services for all sectors in the country.

The major strategic water reservoirs project supports KAHRAMAA's goals in sustaining the country's comprehensive development process, as part of its strategy to enhance Qatar's water security. It is also falls within the framework of KAHRAMAA's commitment to meet the country's water needs and provide sustainable and high-quality services in accordance with the best international and local standards and in such a way that ensures harmony between economic, social and environmental development.

KAHRAMAA had launched the strategic Water Security Mega Reservoirs Project in December 2018 as the largest water storage development the country has ever seen, with a total capacity of about 1,500 million gallons, which would cover water stock needs until 2026. The project is in line with HH the Amir's vision to achieve water security for the State, and it increases storage capacity to more than what has been established in Qatar over the past years. This will enhance the water security through a safe and balanced strategic reserve, will ensure water flow to all sectors and will meet the increasing needs in light of the population growth and the comprehensive and integrated development witnessed by the country.

KAHRAMAA plans to expand the project in the future, bringing the number of tanks to 40 with a capacity of nearly 4,000 million gallons, in line with Qatar's water requirements until 2036.
