1

The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation KAHRAMAA, through the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed”, is organizing a national competition entitled “Monthly Conservation Balance”. The competition will run from 16 to 31 August 2020 and will be eligible for Qatari customers only. A valuable reward will be offered to the customers with the highest consumption reduction rate within three months. The competition will be organized remotely, given the current coronavirus pandemic and as part of the precautionary measures to prevent the virus spread.

The Monthly Conservation Balance competition is organized as part of Tarsheed’s plan to raise awareness among community members on conservation issues, in order to achieve Tarsheed’s goals in reducing electricity and water consumption, achieving energy efficiency, reducing harmful carbon emissions and preserving the environment pursuant to the Qatar National Vision 2030. Tarsheed also seeks to educate the public on the available resources and the means of enjoying them through minimal consumption to preserve them for the coming years and for times of crisis, and to introduce the sustainable development goals via the different media outlets to promote the competition.

The National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency "Tarsheed" invites Qatari customers to register for the Monthly  Conservation Balance Competition through KAHRAMAA’s website Km.qa or via text messages that will be sent to the target group that will include the registration link and educational advice. After participating, the participant gets a Tarsheed bag that contains educational leaflets and a sample of some conservation tools such as (water-saving faucets and LED light).

It is worth noting that the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency "Tarsheed" has been running competitions every year since its establishment in 2012 under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar. Tarsheed is working to spread awareness and to promote the use of energy efficiency technologies and methods, conservation practices and renewable energy in the State of Qatar in a way that benefits the national economy by cutting down on energy and gas consumption and  reducing carbon emissions. This in turn will accelerate the achievement of the desired sustainability in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
