Inspector (Fire & Safety)

Description:

The role holder is responsible for inspecting the fire inflicted field area within the assigned operations premises / facilities as well as inspecting Fire Systems and Equipment, such as Fire Alarm & Detection System Equipment, FM200 System, Fire Pumps, Fire Water Network System, Fire Extinguishers and Breathing Apparatus. The role holder also recommends corrective/remedial actions to cure the fire-inflicted areas as well as operational effectiveness of fire equipment and systems utilised by Kahramaa’s Maintenance Section.


Key Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Attends to Fire System Emergency Situations / Accidents onsite, Visits all the Kahramaa Facilities / Premises and Locations in the assigned areas in accordance with GSF PMAP Schedules as per ISO-9001 2015 Standards.
  • Investigates the Cause of the Accidents or Incidents, determines the Future Course of action and acts as directed by the Engineer – Fire Safety by taking Corrective Steps and avoid recurrence of such Incidents.
  • Conducts Spot Checks on the Fire Safety Systems/Equipment, such as Fire Alarm & Detection System Equipment, FM200 System, Fire Pumps, Fire Water Network System, Fire Extinguishers, etc.
  • Conducts Spot Checks on activities being undertaken by Kahramaa and or by Contractors and ensures the work activities adhere Kahramaa's Code of Practice and Standards.
  • Carries out Initial Independent Accident Investigations and in the event of a serious accident, secures the area until the arrival of the investigation team
  • Prepares written  Reports on Inspections, Findings and Recommendations and Submits to Engineer - Fire Safety for implementation of Remedial Action.  Attempts to Correct Situation on Site when possible by organising/undertaking Minor Repairs, replacing of Equipment and the like.  Monitors situation to satisfactory conclusion. Conduct Troubleshooting related to Fire problems or resolving queries that arise and work towards protecting the assets/ premises on Kahramaa and control unforeseen damages.
  • Ensures the Kahramaa Personnel and Contractors adhere to Kahramaa's Fire Safety Rules and Regulations and Safe Work Practices.
  • Witness Functional Tests of newly Installed Fire Systems at new Kahramaa Premises.
  • Maintains various records and statistics on any accidents or incidents resulting from a breach of safety regulations, as well as inspection reports and surveys of facilities and areas.
  • Perform Preventive & Corrective Maintenance according PMAP for all Fire Protection & Fire Fighting System Equipment by arranging for and/or personally making repairs to branches, hoses &  ancillary equipment.  Completes Maintenance of Fire Extinguishers.  Checks work undertaken by subordinates and ensures Maintenance of work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Prepares written Inspection Reports & ISO Checklists Forms and submits to Engineer – Fire Safety, so that remedial action may be implemented.
  • Works in Cooperation with GSD MR on Securing and Maintaining the ISO-9001/2015 Certification.
  • Attend all Fire Alarm Calls reported by Kahramaa Control Centres (NCC, DGCC, NWCC, DCC, etc) and Kahramaa Call Centres as per GSF Monthly Standby Schedule.
  • Works in cooperation with Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement section on securing and maintain the ISO / Risk Management / ISMS certification
  • Carries out and ensures the compliance of all activities within the Department are in-line with Kahramaa health and safety regulations

    Self Management Responsibilites:
  • Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the reporting manager and ensures that the goals are achieved during the course of the year
  • Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the reporting manager to ensure that the required trainings are arranged and attended
  • Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth
SECTION III: KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Educational and Technical Qualifications/ Certifications:
  • Diploma or equivalent, preferable in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical & Industrial)
  • Certifications in Fire Protection and Safety Management is preferred
  • Driving licence
Years and Nature of Experience:
  • More than 6 years of relevant experience in a similar industry and/or position



 



Qualifications:

Educational and Technical Qualifications/ Certifications:
  • Diploma or equivalent, preferable in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical & Industrial)
  • Certifications in Fire Protection and Safety Management is preferred
  • Driving licence
