The role holder is responsible to ensure effective maintenance of water transmission and distribution networks, in order to continually support customers with purified water services, by assisting Senior Engineer –Maintenance Emergency in planning and supervising activities related to emergency maintenance of water pipelines and associated apparatus in compliance with Kahramaa’s Maintenance Code of Practice
Assists Senior Engineer – Maintenance Emergency in planning activities related to emergency maintenance of water pipelines, associated apparatus and customer complaints
Assists Senior Engineer – Maintenance Emergency in developing contingency plans for emergency situations, in compliance with the established standards and guidelines
Assists Senior Engineer – Maintenance Emergency in Preparing BOQ and tender documents pertaining to Maintenance, Replacement & Upgrading of Existing Water Networks, Service connections & reinstatements
Reviews and updates information, forms and reports pertaining to various customer complaints, and participates in developing sequential procedures to act on them, in a timely manner
Resolves customer complaints, emergency incidents and critical water network issues that majorly affect water supply and follows-up all field inspectors’ activities, in a timely manner
Supervises coordination with traffic police, in matters related to approvals of relevant road opening permits for emergency maintenance, and coordinates with relevant departments internally, for roadwork
Assists Senior Engineer – Maintenance Emergency in providing technical expertise in matters related to troubleshooting of emergency maintenance issues
Recommends Senior Engineer – Maintenance Emergency on optimizing the efficiency of water networks and advices appropriate cost effective methods to enhance or replace current emergency maintenance processes, thereby optimizing life cycle cost and operability
Follows up on job requests, for temporary reinstatement and rectification of pavements/kerb stones, post completion of emergency repairs
Assists Senior Engineer – Maintenance Emergency in resolving issues related to cross contamination of potable water supply, in coordination with Operation Section
Analyses and prepares drawings for replacement of mains which burst frequently, and forwards it to concerned departments for replacement thought maintenance contracts
Issues Contract Work Requests (CWR) to call-off contractors hired for reinstatement and service connections, and monitors their performance, as applicable to the role
Reviews documentation pertaining contracts under his/her purview and accordingly provide inputs to the relevant departments for required action e.g. invoice generation, vendor/ contractor payment, etc.
Follows-up on the stock level of material in Kahramaa’s store and requests the vendor for replenishment of the stock, when required
Co-ordinates with Water GIS in updating information related to new installations and replacement of apparatus and mains and service connections
Coordinates with the transport section related to conveyance of requisite machinery for emergency works
Reviews all technical reports related to Kahramaa’s water network emergency maintenance, and forwards it to Senior Engineer –Maintenance Emergency for his review and approval, in a timely manner, as applicable to the role
Follows-up damage claims in case of line damage by Contractors
Works in cooperation with Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement department on securing and maintaining the ISO 9002 certification carries out and ensures the compliance of all activities within the Maintenance Section are in-line with Kahramaa health and safety regulations
