Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA" represented by National Programme for Conversation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed", and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, represented by “TASMU" Smart Qatar Programme, announced the launch of “Tarsheed Smart EV Charging Platform" during a ceremony on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar.

His Excellency Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari, the President of KAHRAMAA, stressed the importance of the smart electric vehicle charging platform and expressed pride at the joint efforts and effective cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which contributed to this outstanding achievement. In that context, he commended the pivotal role played by the platform in supporting digital transformation and enhancing the sector's sustainability, stressing that the move represented a paradigm shift that contributed to the promotion of a culture of sustainability in society.

This platform will contribute efficiently to monitoring the operation of the electricity stations safely and effectively, as well as following up on their performance by the corporation and by EV service providers. It will also improve the exceptional experience for customers and contribute to their advancement to higher levels. This step will serve as a model for all national sectors of the country, as it has an impact on improving sustainability and efficiency, as well as progressing society toward the digital future that we hope to achieve by 2030.

In turn, H.E. Mrs. Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary of Digital Society Development at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, noted the pivotal role that Smart Qatar Programme "TASMU" has contributed to the empowerment and development of the Smart EV Charging Platform. By partnering with “KAHRAMAA", the development process was characterized by inclusiveness and complementarity, led by the "TASMU" programme from concept to final implementation.

“This collaborative effort between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) is a testament to our collective commitment to digital transformation. Through Qatar Smart Programme “TASMU", we are proud to design and develop the smart platform, where we always strive to embrace technological advances to reduce carbon emissions and shape a sustainable approach in which innovation intersects with environmental responsibility to serve the community in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Thani, participated in the event and spoke about his experience using the application, vehicles, and electric charging stations, demonstrated how this technology can meet daily mobility needs in an environmentally friendly manner.

During the platform's launch, there was a wonderful opportunity for attendees to come and test drive the EV and learn more about the efficiency and performance of electric vehicles. An area has also been designated to familiarize attendees with the platform and learn how to use the application. Customers of EV owners and electric charging stations were also offered the application loading service, allowing them to interact with a team willing to provide answers to all inquiries, thus creating an atmosphere of direct communication during this pioneering event.

The platform is a significant step towards the future of digital transformation, aiming to enable a smart EV charging solution and encourage its use by individuals and companies. The platform also seeks to streamline the experience of charging EV, which will allow customers and charging service providers to monitor charging operations and electric charging stations in the country, thereby promoting a sustainable environment and a new digital lifestyle.

During the development of the platform, the team benefited from the advanced capacities of TASMU platform, designed specifically to promote smart technology solutions in various sectors, allowing them to integrate high-quality technologies with high efficiency. These include, for example, identity management, GIS services, notification packages, dashboard services, and data reporting. This integration has contributed to creating an efficient and user-friendly application that meets the growing needs of Qatar's electric vehicle users.

The platform also plays an essential role in developing smart, sustainable solutions that help create a more environmentally friendly world. The platform provides an optimal charging experience that reduces CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, as each single electric vehicle charge saves approximately 7 tons of emissions compared to a conventional vehicle. Studies conducted by the Conversation and Efficiency Department at KAHRAMMA have also shown that savings from the installation of electric chargers in Qatar will contribute to reducing CO2 emissions by about 2084 tons. This smart platform is a testament to the tremendous capabilities of strategic partnerships and advanced digital platforms such as “TASMU" in stimulating innovation and promoting sustainability in urban environments.

Engineer Rashid Al Rahimi, Director of Conversation and Efficiency Department stated that the platform delivers a unique experience for customers by offering unique services that make it easier for them to locate charging stations. Customers can profit from the charging services compatible with their vehicle type by enrolling in the application and submitting personal and vehicle data. Users can then browse for the nearest station to their area and view its full information. It also allows them to track the charging process. The app also allows secure and simple electronic payment, which will be activated later. It also includes additional services such as support services, reporting problems, as well as mobile notification feature that will keep the user informed of all developments. This platform also enables KAHRAMAA, as a project owner, to monitor the electric stations, thereby improving the quality of services provided.

In this regard, Ms. Eman Al-Kuwari, Director of Innovation Department at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, said, "We at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, through our TASMU programme are pleased to contribute to the design and development of “Tarsheed" smart EV charging platform and to establish a digital charging infrastructure. This smart initiative reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability and harnesses smart solutions to reduce carbon emissions. This forward-looking endeavor is undoubtedly in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, serving the community and contributing to a smart and sustainable future for our country. "

Tarsheed smart EV charging platform comes to affirm the continued fruitful cooperation between both sides in order to benefit from energy conservation and an enhanced user experience for a better future. It reflects KAHRAMMA commitment to providing innovative solutions that balance the needs of society and environmental protection and contribute to encouraging different segments of society to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle.

The National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed" and Qatar Smart "TASMU" call for electric vehicle owners, charging station operators, and stakeholders to join the Tarsheed Smart EV Charging Platform for charging electric vehicles and contribute to the growth of sustainable transport.
