The Seventh International Investment Forum for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency kicked off Sunday in Amman, Jordan, under the auspices of HE Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, Chairman of the Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC) and president of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA" HH Prince Asem bin Nayef and HH Princess Sana'a Asim. Many Arab and foreign countries along with several privet entities, and universities interested in this field.
“Renewable Energy and Innovative Agricultural Patterns Achieving Food Security" was the slogan of this edition. The 3-day forum discussed many strategic topics related to green energy technologies and innovation across the fields of agriculture, smart cities, green Hydrogen, and sustainability.
Chairman of the Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC) and president of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA", Al Kuwari said, that one of the big challenges facing the energy transition and sustainable development in the Arab world is the need to provide the necessary infrastructure and moving on power interconnection projects among Arab countries, stressing that this is part of the Arab economic integration that serves Arab societies and governments.
Within the same context, he emphasized the importance of supporting Arab young people to innovate and think creatively, stressing that this cannot be achieved without strengthening scientific research centers and universities to keep the course of developing their projects.
The President of Kahramaa stressed that the honor of assigning the State of Qatar to chair the Arab Renewable Energy Authority represents a "dear trust to be held with honor and responsibility," stressing Qatar's interest to continue making all possible efforts to follow the path of excellence throughout the Commission.
Al-Kuwari also stated that hosting the first carbon-neutral World Cup in history in Qatar is a great achievement that highlights the centrality of sustainability issues in Qatar and the Arab region's future.
The conference hosted workshops on artificial intelligence, energy storage, sustainable development, and agricultural innovations in the Arab world, organized by the Arab Renewable Energy Commission, Kahramaa, and the Moroccan Ministry of Energy - Development and Environment.
On the sidelines of the forum, His Excellency Eng. Al-Kuwari honored the participating entities who support the Commission. The participants expressed their appreciation to Kahramaa - the platinum sponsor of the forum - and for the great efforts the corporation makes along with a group of sponsors.
The participants praised the great pioneering role of Qatar as a global example in sustainability, especially regarding its ambitious initiative to reach zero carbon emissions by 2050, through the mega projects that are being implemented in the country. Al Kharsaah solar power plant was one of the latest projects that Qatar launched with a capacity of 800 megawatts.
The Arab Renewable Energy Commission is one of the leading entities in the Arab region that focuses on issues of sustainability and clean renewable energy; moreover, it is affiliated with the Council of Arab Economic Unity, affiliated with the Arab League.
