Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” is keen to commemorate the World Water Day which falls on March 22 of every year due to its spreading message of awareness about preserving water, conserving its consumption and managing its resources which lead to achieving sustainability.
This year’s celebration comes with the slogan “ Better Water, Better Jobs” to shed light on the importance of water for various sectors due to its crucial role in all living arenas and which also complies with KAHRAMAA’s mission in providing sustainable electricity and water with high quality for better living in the State of Qatar. Water and jobs play a great role in renaissance witnessed by the state under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
Thus, this year’s celebration sheds light on the vital service provided by KAHRAMAA and the role of labors in water and allied sectors which create about half of the world’s labor force. Their role extends to render the essential service for various sectors by enhancing of the water quality, ensuring its sustainability and touching all population for better living. Qatar goes ahead to create a sustainable economy and improve the standard of living with the four pillars: human, social, economic and environmental as envisaged in Qatar National Vision 2030.
The celebration of World Water Day coincides with the Gulf Cooperation Council’s Conservation Week starting from today i.e. March 22nd. The importance of this occasion is reflected in raising and highlighting the concerns for the importance of rational consumption and its impact on preserving resources. KAHRAMAA arranges many events and activities’, aiming at raising awareness for the importance of conservation among all categories of society in order to aware them all about significance of water and its rational consumption as this vital resource is inevitable to all walks of life.
KAHRAMAA also works to provide sustainable water with high quality and continuously seeks to bring it up to the best level with its commitment to the health, local and international safety standards in order to provide a better living. KAHRAMAA implements a comprehensive strategy to achieve an integrated and sustainable management for water resources in the state of Qatar.
KAHRAMAA believes in the importance of conservation to achieve sustainability, therefore, it launched “National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed)” in 2012 in order to reduce electricity consumption by 20% and water consumption by 35% during 5 years. The state of Qatar is one of the countries that has high rate of per capita water consumption.
KAHRAMAA also involves in Integrated Conservation Media Campaign in GCC countries under the slogan “Save it to Last” through arranging events and activities to raise awareness for the importance of conserving electricity and water and reducing its wastage in our daily practice and developing it as culture of the community.
