KAHRAMAA Participates at Cop21

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” participates, as part of Qatar delegation, in Climate Change Cop 21 Conference held in Paris – France from 30^th November to 11^th December 2015.

The preparations of the conference and exhibition were at a highest level to reflect a positive image of the State of Qatar and its role in climate change challenges under the guidance of Senior Management, led by H.E. Eng. Essa Bin Hilal Al-Kuwari, KAHRAMAA President.

KAHRAMAA, represents in the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed” and the Ministry of Environment represented the State of Qatar in the business Exhibition accompanying the conference that witnessed large turnout of the conference’s visitors, led by His Excellency the French Prime Minister Manuel Valls and Minister of Foreign Affairs and a number of Arab and foreign ministers, ambassadors, VIPs and business men and women. The exhibition is dedicated to the national and private companies that work in areas related to research techniques of environment, climate and thermal change. KAHRAMAA’s participation represented in the projects and initiatives of "Tarsheed" to raise energy efficiency and renewable energy.

The distinctive booth of KAHRAMAA includes review for all advanced technologies and projects carried out by "Tarsheed" by a style of an interactive display using touch screens to display live footage for various projects of the corporation and its efforts to reduce carbon emissions. In this framework, a longitudinal wall was designed to explain the reduction achieved by the national program since its inception in 2012, which is equivalent to the emissions reduction of 263 thousand car exhausts and save about 153 million euros of the funds to the state treasury. A small model of KAHRAMAA Awareness Park was designed also where visitors can sit inside and watch a film about the park and its components of educational toys for electricity, water, modern techniques and methods of conservation as well as a review of its research potential in the future as an Awareness educational center that is unique of its kind in the Middle East. Qatar booth held a workshop entitled “Tarsheed: Behaviors that Change the World” managed by Eng. Abdulaziz Al Hammadi, Manager of Conservation & energy efficiency Department at KAHRAMAA.

KAHRAMAA presented in “Tarsheed” has some other activities to support GCC booth. KAHRAMAA held two workshops at the conference; the first one entitled "The efforts of the State of Qatar represented in KAHRAMAA in the field of renewable energy" held by Eng. Hashem Al-Sada- senior renewable energy engineer at KAHRAMAA on 3^rd December 2015. While the other workshop was on 7^th December entitled: "Effective efforts to raise energy efficiency and disseminating the culture of conservation in Qatar" by Eng. Abdulaziz Ahmed Al Hammadi Manager of Conservation & energy efficiency.

It is worth mentioning that KAHRAMAA participates at the Conference of Parties. It discusses the international climate issues and Qatar trend at this regard. Eng. Yusuf Janahi, KAHRAMAA planning and business consultant and Eng. Abdul Rahman Al-Neama Manager, Health, Safety and Environment Department will participates in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and other government agencies.
