Commemorating the World Water Day and GCC Conservation Week, the Conservation and Energy Efficiency department of Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation organized a four- day event (23- 26th March, 2015) for school students here at Diplomatic Club.
The event which hosted a number of activities for school students as per their age groups revolved around the theme of Water Conservation.
The fun and interactive activities were attended by a large number of students from various schools of Qatar. All the activities highlighted the role of water in sustainable development. Children also participated at painting and drawing competitions on water conservation. Prizes and gifts were distributed at the occasion.
KAHRAMAA’s Conservation & Energy Efficiency department has been organizing such events to promote the positive values of Tarsheed, the National Program for the Conservation & Energy Efficiency.
By organizing and coordinating for conservation- related events, KAHRAMAA is committed to its responsibility for providing sustainable resources for electricity and water for the benefits of the nation and for improving the quality life for the generations to come in line with QNV 2030 which calls for environmental management and protection aimed at ensuring harmony and consistency with economic and social development.
The National program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) which was launched as a campaign in year 2012 under the patronage of His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al- Thani, is marching towards achieving good result. It has achieved a great progress in terms of electricity and water conservation so far since its launching.
The prime target of Tarsheed is to reduce the per capita water and electricity consumption in Qatar by 35% & 20%, respectively up to 2017
