Workshop on GCC Water Strategy opens in Doha

H.E Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari, the President of Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” opened on Monday 22/2/2015, Qatar second national workshop. The two day workshop held in Doha discusses the long term GCC water strategy.
The strategy adopts a vital project based on the instruction of GCC leaders within the meeting held in May 2012 in Riyadh.
The two day workshop discusses setting a unified GCC water strategy. It is meant to define the objectives of water sector as per GCC  water strategy.
The second workshop completes the discussions of the first workshop with regard to the third elements of strategy which is setting a unified GCC water strategy. It is the main component of the project as it sets Strategy vision and mission to set objectives as per the vision of GCC countries and stakeholders. 
As well, the workshop discusses several issues including the manufacturing of desalination stations, diversification of energy sources, development and protection of traditional resources, and sewage water recycle. The workshop discusses as well water conservation in GCC countries and ways to reduce water supply cost and increase revenue while keeping the high quality services.
The workshop is held within the urgent need to discuss water strategies in GCC countires within the various challenges they meet including the rare resources of surface and underground water.
