KAHRAMAA organizes District Cooling Workshop

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) organized a workshop on District Cooling on Wednesday 18/6/2014 at St. Regis Hotel under the title, “ Towards Cooperative District Cooling Society”.
 
The workshop was attended by senior functionaries of KAHRAMAA and all operating and coordinating District Cooling stakeholders including representatives from ASHGAL and Ministry of Environment, aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordination among all concerned stakeholders and discussing collective strategies in the arena to help implement Qatar National Vision 2030 and Qatar National Development Strategy (2011-2016).
 
The workshop had four specific sessions followed with lectures and presentations on role of KAHRAMAA’s District Cooling Services department, district cooling related challenges in Qatar, Treated Sewage Effluent Network in Qatar, Cooling plants’ discharge, and experience and expansion plans of two service providers.
 
KAHRAMAA has established the District Cooling services department (CD) to regulate and promote district cooling related activities in the state of Qatar aiming implementation of QNV 2030 and QNDS.
As per the Ministerial directive, the potable water usage in all central cooling plants were prohibited from 2014 January onwards.
KAHRAMAA District cooling service department is enforcing the implementation of Ministerial directive and advise to use Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) for Cooling Tower make up.
