The ceremony was attended by H.E. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Mahmoud, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, H.E Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry, H.E Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al- Kuwari, KAHRAMAA’s President, Ministers, dignitaries, and high level officials from different sectors.
In his speech, Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sadah said, “Qatar has occupied pride of place as a key player at all economic, commercial, and political fields. Qatar also occupies a leading position in terms of environment conservation by adopting rational economic environmental policy. Qatar managed to provide and monitor the potential environment need in a way ensures meeting and exceeding the environmental requirements of the society to achieve development.”
Al-Sada added that we follow up and adopt the world recent technologies while adopting an eco friendly economic trend that reflects the main pillars of QNV 2030. These efforts come within the world interest in the sustainable development and the sound management of resources including electricity and water. The State of Qatar, under the wise leadership of H.E. Emir, is committed to provide and maintain sustainable water and electricity resources.
“we work as per our crystal clear policy of natural resources management, which acts as a road map to achieve sustainability to ensure the conservation of resources for the coming generations. It is a common responsibility for all to stop misuse and increase energy efficiency.” Minister of Energy and Industry clarified.
“The initiatives and campaigns of the national program Tarsheed have managed to reduce electricity and water per capita consumption by 10 % and 6% respectively. This result should be motive for more efforts” he added, explaining that they are results of efforts exerted by KAHRAMAA officials including the awareness campaigns, enforcement of conservation law, modifications of electricity and water installations, and air conditions specifications. “the coming phase necessitates all relevant authorities to exert more efforts to implement specifications and activate common mechanisms.” He added.
Al-Sada pointed out that Tarsheed program managed to involve all society classes and sectors by the various contests it launched. The conserving building competition attracted all governmental, industrial, commercial, sports, and residential sectors. We are proud of the awareness level of the Qatari nationals, as the residential sector came first in terms of participation with 25 participants. The conservation film contest held in cooperation with Doha Film Institute (DFI) was a good opportunity to attract talents. Film is a good tool to disseminate the culture of conservation in the society. More than 50 Qatari talented film makers participated.
On his part H.E. Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-J=Kuwari, KAHRAMAA President said, “in 2013, Tarsheed program managed to reduce electricity per capita consumption by 10% and water by 6% compared with 2012. As for the social awareness, Tarsheed has coordinated with Supreme Education of Council (SEC) where 75 lectures and awareness workshops for students and teachers were presented. It comes within Tarsheed consideration of the role of education. At the same time, Tarsheed has coordinated with the Ministry of Awqaf to establish the culture of conservation in religious speeches along with courses for preachers and Imams.”
Al-Kuwari added that Tarheed has participated in various ceremonies including World Water Day, GCC Conservation Week, Earh Hour, GCC Traffic Week, Child Book Fair, and other activities at malls along with social media platforms to disseminate Tarsheed vision and objectives.
Tarsheed managed to develop and update the specifications energy efficiency. This includes the development of the regulating rules of electricity and water conservation, and updating the regulations of electricity and water installations. Now, we are working to approve Qatari specification of building internal pluming.
“Moreover, we managed, in coordination with the Ministry of Environment to set specifications for Air Conditions which presents 60% of consumption, along with approving the gradual disposal of incandescent light bulbs to reduce lighting consumption of electricity by 20% till 2016.
Now, we are coordinating with the Ministry of Municipality to sanction thermal insulation as per KAHRAMAA specifications. ” He pointed

Buildings are evaluated based on the specific parameters set by the team of qualified experts to test efficient design of Mechanical Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) systems in all buildings which in turn includes HVAC System, lighting, plumbing fixtures, landscape, motion sensors, and BMS.
