Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ezdan Holding to support and promote the positive values of Tarsheed, the National Programme for the Conservation and Efficient use of Water and Electricity, a national drive launched by KAHRAMAA in year 2012 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al- Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar.
The MoU was signed today at Ezdan office by HE Eng. Essa Bin Hilal Al- Kuwari, KAHRAMAA’s President and HE Sheikh Dr. Khalid Bin Abdullah Al- Thani, the Chairman of the Ezdan Holding’s Board of Directors amongst the presence of senior officials of both the entities.
The MoU aims at achieving cooperation between the two organizations in the arena of sustainable development and facilitate Qatar’s transformation into a modern state as envisaged in Qatar National Vision 2030.
In accordance with the agreement, KAHRAMAA will help Ezdan Holding with its expertise and technical advises in all installations, real estate projects and green projects of the realty giant aiming conservation of electricity and water.
Speaking at the occasion, KAHRAMAA’s President HE Eng. Essa Bin Hilal Al- Kuwari said that we, in KAHRAMAA, stress and reiterate our commitment to serve, as we used to be, an effective and key partner in all plans and programs of comprehensive development the State witnesses while assuming our social responsibility.
KAHRAMAA promotes the culture of conservation among all classes of the society. Our National Programme for the Conservation and Efficient Use of Water And Electricity ”Tarsheed” is to ensure sustainability and better living for our people one generation after the other, he added.
The massive Tarsheed programme, through its multi- folded strategies, aims at reaching all segments of the society and KAHRAMAA’s customers to create awareness for the noble cause. It motivates the whole society to work together for a social cause, contributing to the goals and ambitions of the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030.
KAHRAMAA has also joined hands with a number of organizations including schools to give impetus to the campaign. The prime target of the campaign is to reduce the per capita water and electricity consumption in Qatar by 35% & 20%, respectively until 2017.
Tarsheed presents an opportunity for organisations and individuals to join in the national effort to protect the country’s resources and reduce water and electricity consumption.
