The Statement of KAHRAMAA President On Arab Water Day – 3rd March 2014

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” celebrates the Arab Water Day on 3rd March, under the theme of “water is our life, and the future of our generations, let’s think sustainability”. KAHRAMAA recognizes the key role water plays to achieve the sustainable development and support the economic and urban development the State witnesses.
 
KAHRAMAA is key partner in development. The overarching aim is to enjoy sustainable development and better living for Qatari citizens one generation after the other, as per the instructions of H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar. In our march to achieve QNV 2030 to move Qatar into a developed country, KAHRAMAA reiterates commitment to its mission that calls for the provision of high quality electricity and water services for customers as per the highest international standards. At the same time, KAHRAMAA goes on in the predesigned programs to promote the strategic water reserves in order to achieve the water security. KAHRAMAA has achieved a great leap in this regard by increasing the strategic reserves by 126% by commissioning five water stations at a total capacity of 561 MIG.
 
KAHRAMAA is committed to meet water needs and to the requirements of the sustainable development and environment protection. It cooperates with all authorities, ministries, and corporations concerned with the development of water sector under the umbrella of Permanent Water Resources Committee (PWRC). KAHRAMAA endeavor to achieve the integrated and sustainable water management system as per the objectives of Qatar National Development Strategy 2011-2016.
 
In line with the theme of Arab Water Day, I call all nationals and expatiates to think sustainability and save water for the coming generations in order to reduce water per capita consumption by 35% by 2016 as aimed by Tarsheed program.
