KAHRAMAA celebrates 6th Tarsheed Anniversary

Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al- Thani the Emir of the Qatar, the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” organized the sixth anniversary of its ongoing National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) at Qatar National Convention Center with the slogan Qatar is pulsing’’.

 

The grand and glittering event was graced with the presence of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Minister of Energy and Industry, HE Dr. Mohamed Bin Saleh Al Sada, KAHRAMAA’s president, HE Eng. Essa Bin Hilal Al- Kuwari, ministers, dignitaries, diplomats, high level officials from Government and private sectors and sponsors, Media professionals, senior functionaries of KAHRAMAA, Environment- champions, school children, stakeholders’ representatives and others.

 

 

At the beginning of the Tarsheed celebration, HE Dr. Mohamed Bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and KAHRAMAA’s president, HE Eng. Essa Bin Hilal Al- Kuwari delivered speeches.

During the event, a film regarding the first phase (2012- 2017) of the National Program for the Conservation and Energy Efficiency was screened, highlighting its overall achievements, challenges, and future plans in the second phase until 2022 as per Qatar National Development Strategy (2018 – 2022).

 

At the end on 2017, Tarsheed succeeded in reducing the per capita consumption of Electricity and Water in Qatar by 17% and 18% respectively, reduce carbon emissions by 10.2 million tons, save 265.000 million cubic feet and around QR 5 billions.

 

During the event, KAHRAMAA also announced the commencement of the second phase (2018- 2022) of the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) and its new road map to achieve the objectives set as per Qatar National Development Strategy (2018 – 2022). During these years, Tarsheed will strive to reduce the per capita consumption of electricity and water by 8% and 15% respectively and emissions by 7%. Tarsheed will provide the technical support of a number of projects in the state to produce 500 – 700 MW from renewable resources.

 

 

In addition to it, KAHRAMAA at this grand occasion felicitated those winners (individual and corporate) who had been selected under various categories against the entries received for four competitions which were organized by KAHRAMAA’s Conservation and Energy Efficiency department. Mr. Jaber Al-Merri, Managing Editor of Al-Arab newspaper was felicitated as best communication engagement with Tarsheed for supporting Tarsheed initiatives on social media platforms specially with be partner in Tarsheed initiatives.

 

KAHRAMAA also honored partners and sponsors for their support of Tarsheed initiatives: honored partners are AAMAL company, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Alfardan group and Siemens Qatar.

 

Students of Qatar Technical High School for Boys, lebib Primary school for girls, om aymen High school for girls, and Al-Wakrah high school for girls were also honored for their solar energy projects under the Tarsheed supervision.

 

Finally, the ceremony witnessed the honor of Ministry of Transport and CommunicationsBest Government Entity Cooperating With Tarsheed 2017.

 

as well, KAHRAMAA held an exhibition on conservation tools and techniques on the marine of the ceremony.

 

Tarsheed Program was initiated as in 2012 on earth day which falls every year on April 22. Tarsheed, through its multi- folded strategies and programmes, aims at reaching all segments of the society to create awareness for conserving the precious resources. It motivates the whole society to work together, contributing to the envisaged goals and ambitions of the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030.

 

 

Tarsheed also helps in reducing consumption by its saving techniques and methodologies. It looks forward to integrate the whole Qatar community for their worth participation as broadly as possible. KAHRAMAA also appeals to all Qatar’s residents to take an active role in the program, calling for cooperation and adherence to the country’s conservation laws and regulations.
