At The National
Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency ‘Tarsheed’’s sixth annual
celebration on April 18th , held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh
Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani the Emir of Qatar, His Excellency the Prime Minister
and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani,
will honor all the winners of Tarsheed Competitions including the latest one
namely: the Sustainability Film Project competition.
The competition, an initiative of Tarsheed in cooperation with ConocoPhillips’
Global Water Sustainability Center (GWSC) and Qatar Green Building Council
(QGBC), aims to raise awareness and showcase the community’s diverse viewpoints
on a sustainable future. Through Tarsheed Program Kahramaa aims to reduce
electricity and water consumption in the country.
With this new development, the dates of the competition have changed. The
submission deadline is now April 16th, and shortlisted candidates will be
announced on April 17th. The winners will be named and honored at the Tarsheed
event on April 18th
Due to popular demand, the Sustainability Film Project competition is now open
to anyone, or any team of up to three members. Candidates can enter one of
three categories: university students, high school students, and independent
contributors, or non-students. There will be a first, second, and third place
winner for each group.
Candidates can work individually or in teams to produce a 30 to 60 second video
in English or Arabic. Videos should be focused on the topic of ‘water and
energy conservation’ or ‘a sustainable lifestyle.’ Winners are eligible to win
different high-tech prizes.
For this inaugural competition, the entries will be judged by ConocoPhillips,
Kahramaa, and QGBC representatives. On May 7th, the first, second, and third
place winners of each category will be recognized at a special awards ceremony
at Qatar National Library.
