KAHRAMAA hosts competition for conservation awareness

The competition organized and initiated by the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) on ‘Qatoura and Kahroub news’ during the holy month of Ramadan has gained momentum with the increasing number of participants of all age groups across the communities.
 
A number of participants have been felicitated so far with many prizes from KAHRAMAA’s Conservation and Energy Efficiency department. Qatoura and Kahroub are KAHRAMAA’s characters which are most popular here especially among children. The event is being aired daily on Qatar TV between 7 and 7. 15 PM. A number of questions are being asked in general about KAHRAMAA and in particular about its characters.
 
The participants have to send their answers through SMS on 92340. KAHRAMAA announces the name of winners weekly on every Tuesday. Result is available on KAHRAMAA’s website (km.qa) and Twitter site of @TarsheedQatar. Entry to the event is open to all irrespective of nationality, age, gender and age group.
The purpose of the event is to create awareness about ongoing National campaign for Conservation and Efficient Use of Water and Electricity (Tarsheed). The National campaign is being executed under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the Qatar with the slogan “Keep Qatar Pulsing. Consume Wisely”.
 
The five year “Tarsheed” campaign aims to promote a culture of saving electricity and water as it target all segment of the Qatari society. The massive campaign, through its multi- folded strategies and programmes, aims at reaching all segments of the society and KAHRAMAA’s customers to create awareness for the noble cause. It motivates the whole society to work together for a social cause, contributing to the goals and ambitions of the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030.
 
The prime target of the campaign is to reduce the per capita water and electricity consumption in Qatar by 35% & 20%, respectively during five years.
 
The competition will be concluded on the last day of Ramadan.
