KAHRAMAA launches Awareness Campaign for Conservation Law no 20 /2015

​Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), represented in the National Programme for Conservation and Energy efficiency “Tarsheed” has launched an awareness campaign aiming at dissemination of the provisions of the New Conservation Law No. 20/2015 modifying few items on Conservation Law no. 26/2008.
The awareness campaign being launched with the theme “Bad habits cost” through a number of media tools is focused on conveying conservation messages and its provisions and clauses to penalize those responsible for violation of the law as well as offering solutions to prevent violations.
The Conservation & Energy Efficiency Department in KAHRAMAA, through “Tarsheed” has been associating with all sectors of the society to make the awareness campaign meaningful with no stone unturned for the successful execution of the Law of the country. The campaign is executed in Malls, TV, Outdoor, Social Media, Mosques, Schools, Government entities and on Radio.
KAHRAMAA through its National Program for Conservation & Energy Efficiency has been doing all possible measures to stop extravagance of country’s vital resources of electricity and water, ensuring Qatar’s resources are protected for future generations and goals envisaged in Qatar National Vision (QNV 2030) are timely implemented.
Over the years since the launching of the national programme “tarsheed” in 2012, it has been endeavoring its best to inculcate conservation culture among masses and all sectors through its lauded programs and strategies to achieve its prime goal of reducing per capita water and electricity consumption in Qatar by 35% and 20%, respectively until 2017.
 
The awareness campaign emphasizes KAHRAMAA’s commitment to provide the technical necessary advice to its customers on water and energy conservation and efficiency whenever needed along with spreading awareness in the society about the newly amended provisions and penal actions in Law number 26 of 2008 promulgated through the Law number 20 of 2015.
As per the Conservation Law, using potable water for washing cars or cleaning building yards by a hose or any other flushing tools, leaving the damaged or broken parts of the water internal inlets (taps, pipes etc) causing water leak, and leaving the outdoor lights, switched on between 7 am and 4.30 pm constitute apparent violation of the law of the land with various fines that could reach QR20,000 for the first violation.
