Qatar Hosted GCC Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee Meeting

The State of Qatar hosted the GCC Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee meetings. HE Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada chaired the 28th ministerial meeting held on September 8th with the participation of the GCC Electricity and Water Affairs Ministers.
Al-Sada welcomed the delegations reviewing committee achievements within the cooperation among GCC countries thanks to the wise instructions of GCC leaders. 
Al-Sada hailed the GCC electricity interconnection projects. “committee meetings are meant to set a general framework to develop a comprehensive strategy for electricity and water interconnection in order to meet challenges and support development.” Al-Sada said.
“Water issue poses the most significant challenge in the Gulf region," Al- Sada said stressing the need for implementation of the GCC Water Interconnection Grid Project.
The meeting discussed the recommendations of the previous meeting and ways to conserve and increase electricity and water efficiency, as well as how to promote cooperation among member states in the fields of electricity and water.
On the sideline of the meeting, a GCC unified campaign for conservation of electricity and water usage was launched under the theme of “save it to last”. As well, a website for GCC electricity and water data base was launched.
It is worth to mention that GCC undersecretaries met on September 7th.
