KAHRAMAA issued a new manual for contractors

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” issued a manual for contractors to adopt best practices and prevent cable damages.  The manual is meant to increase their cultural and technical awareness about the safety of the electrical cables when executing projects.
KAHRAMAA, after conducting detailed studies ad statistics on network faults during the period 2012-2014, found that cable damage by third party represents the greater percentage of faults. Faults was 47% in 2013 and increased to 53% in 2014.

 

The manual includes all protective requirements, and technical procedures contractors should observe during excavation.
 
 They can apply for excavation permission to be provided by the updated maps in order to avoid any damage that may affect KAHRAMAA basic infrastructure. Digging without getting the permissions of the concerned authorities is one of contractors mal practices that cause damage to the electricity network and thus may affect many important facilities including hospitals, ministries, and other governmental and industrial authorities.
 

 By issuing this manual, KAHRAMAA aims to ensure network safety to promote the basic infrastructure. KAHRAMAA appeals for contractors to abide by the relevant rules and regulations and get the required permissions before starting excavation works. The manual is available at KAHRAMAA customer service centers, KAHRAMAA website and accounts on social media platforms.
